Acupuncture examinations and treatments are performed by Dr. Brown to treat soreness and neurological conditions.
Cardiology Examinations
Cardiology examinations are performed to assess poor performance, arrhythmias, murmurs, or collapse. Holter monitors and exercise telemetry are utilized to evaluate rhythm abnormalities. Echocardiograms are performed to evaluate the structure and function of the heart.
Colic Examination
Colic is the leading cause of death in horses. Early treatment is key when dealing with any type of colic, from impactions to surgical conditions.
Dental Examination and Equilibration
A fundamental key to a healthy horse is the maintenance of proper dentition. At minimum, once a year a horse needs to have its teeth evaluated and may need scaling of sharp points in addition to evaluation for abnormal teeth or wear.
Digital Radiographs
Digital Radiographs are used to help us diagnose numerous conditions including lamenesses, foreign bodies, dental abnormalities, and fractures. We carefully calibrate the image to allow for accurate measurements in the hooves to ensure that we can best assist your horse’s farrier in balancing the feet.
Endocrine Evaluation
We offer evaluation of your horse or donkey for endocrine abnormalities, including equine metabolic syndrome and PPID (Cushings Disease). We stay abreast of the latest developments in both diagnosis and treatment.
Gastroscopy
Endoscopy of the esophagus, stomach, and proximal duodenum can be obtained with our 3 meter endoscope unit to better diagnose and treat horses with esophageal or gastric ulcers and motility problems.
In-House Laboratory Equipment
We utilize in-house laboratory equipment to help expedite treatments and diagnoses.
Neonatal Medicine
Foals require close monitoring and expedient examination and treatment when ill. We stock in house lab equipment, plasma, diagnostics, and treatments to help your treat your foal quickly.
Neurologic Examinations
Neurologic examinations are performed to evaluate neuromuscular strength and function. From there, we can formulate a diagnostic and therapeutic plan based on likely etiologies. We also offer standing spinal taps to increase the probability of accurate diagnoses.
Not Your Typical Routine Veterinary Care
Routine examinations and preventative health maintenance are performed on an annual or biannual basis depending on your horse's needs. We customize all recommendations directly to your horse and provide thorough evaluations of all patients.
Ophthalmology
Problems with the eye in a horse often need expedient aggressive treatment. We are equipped to treat eye conditions from corneal ulcers to glaucoma.
Upper Airway Endoscopy
Our endoscope allows for visualization of the nasal passages, throat, guttural pouches, ethmoids, and trachea to enable diagnosis of nasal discharge, breathing, or swallowing abnormalities.
Ultrasound Examinations
Ultrasound examinations are used to diagnose a variety of conditions ranging from tendonitis to pneumonia to colic. We also provide limited reproductive services and utilize our ultrasonography skills to help us do uterine and ovarian evaluations in addition to fetal monitoring.
